Kuala Lumpur Overview SDG 9

Kuala Lumpur has made progress towards SDG 9 by improving infrastructure, industrialization, and innovation. Sustainable transportation infrastructure has been developed through the expansion of public transportation systems and the creation of pedestrian-friendly areas. The development of the Kuala Lumpur International Financial District and initiatives to foster innovation, such as the Kuala Lumpur Smart City Framework, have also contributed to the city's progress. Efforts to achieve SDG 9 in Kuala Lumpur have focused on sustainable transportation infrastructure, promoting sustainable industrialization, and fostering innovation. Initiatives like the development of cycling infrastructure and the Kuala Lumpur International Financial District have improved transportation efficiency and attracted high-value industries. The establishment of the Kuala Lumpur Smart City Framework and the KL Future City Initiative have also helped promote smart technologies and solutions for sustainable urban development.

  • Introduction of creative and cultural zones to empower creative industry Activation of selected areas in Downtown Kuala Lumpur such as Pasar Seni, Medan Pasar, Dataran Merdeka , Stadium Merdeka and Stadium Negara
