Kuala Lumpur City Hall works with agencies and stakeholders to promote job creation, entrepreneurship, and sustainability among communities, while also providing access to quality education through early education facilities and social welfare provisions such as care centers for the disabled, senior citizen activity centers (PAWE).

SDG 6 aims to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
Safe drinking water systems and adequate sanitation that effectively disposes of human waste will be essential to ensure Kuala Lumpur grows sustainably. Kuala Lumpur has provided their residents with innovative water treatments. Their sewage treatment plants are equipped with high technology and smaller plants in Kuala Lumpur are rationalized and transformed to regional plants. Water quality in KL rivers is actively monitored by The Department of Environment. Furthermore, Friends of Rivers was established to promote the initiatives undertaken by the communities, associations and individuals to cultivate a sense of belonging on the river and the environment.
However, Kuala Lumpur can provide significant opportunities for more integrated and sustainable water use and waste management play by improving water quality through environmental protection measures, improvement of local infrastructure and adopting sustainable wastewater management.
