5 My Programme @ Wilayah Persekutuan
5MY Programme @ Wilayah Persekutuan is social aid programme focusing on the urban poor communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Federal Territory. The programme consists of assistance in job opportunities under MYJob@Wilayah, education (MYSchoolBus@Wilayah), basic needs (MYGrocer@Wilayah), Food (MyFood@Wilayah and MyBeras@Wilayah), and medication (MYMedic@Wilayah)
The Federal Territories Ministry will empower the MY5 Program to eradicate urban poverty and improve the social safety net among residents of the Federal Territories.
The program was initiated around mid-2020 as a trial and ad-hoc with a small capacity, so this year the MY5 program will be implemented more extensively.
WHAT IS THE MY5 PROGRAM IN THE TERRITORIES?
The Federal Territories Ministry started the MY5 program around mid-2020 with a small capacity.
According to Tan Sri Annuar Musa, in 2021, this program will be further expanded to cover the following 5 aspects:
MYJob@Wilayah employment, education (MYSchoolBus@Wilayah), basic necessities (MYGrocer@Wilayah), food (MYFood@Wilayah), and healthcare (MYMedic@Wilayah).
MYJOB@WILAYAH
MYJob@Wilayah will offer over 3,000 job opportunities to city residents, especially those affected by COVID-19, in 6 job sectors including
- services
- construction
- maintenance
- cleaning
- manufacturing
- and packaging
MYSCHOOLBUS@WILAYAH
MYSchoolBus@Wilayah which aims to help alleviate the transportation costs of low-income students, will be expanded to 158 public and private low-cost housing areas involving nearly 10,000 students.
MYGROCER@WILAYAH
MYGrocer@Wilayah offers B40 groups the opportunity to purchase kitchen supplies at prices up to 20 percent lower in 158 low-cost public and private housing areas as well as traditional villages around the capital.
MYFOOD@WILAYAH
The rice donation program through MyFood@Wilayah will be implemented from 1 Feb to June this year to alleviate the burden of Federal Territories residents affected by COVID-19. For starters, 23,000 bags of donated rice from corporations and the public will be distributed three times a week through the Federal Territories Resident Representative Council.
MYMEDIC@WILAYAH
MYMedic@Wilayah provides basic treatment and free check-ups through mobile clinics to less privileged city residents on a weekly basis and will be expanded to more areas.
In addition to this My5 program, there are various other initiatives by the Federal Territories Ministry that are channelled through the Urban Poverty Eradication Program, KWP, including:
